BlurPane — Privacy Policy

The short version

BlurPane does not collect, store, transmit, or share any of your data. Period.

100% local — everything happens inside your browser.
No network requests — BlurPane has no server and no backend.
No account, no login, and no tracking.
No analytics, telemetry, cookies, or fingerprinting.
Your settings and saved rules never leave your device.

1.What BlurPane does

BlurPane runs entirely inside your browser (Chrome). When you blur, pixelate, or black out part of a web page, that change happens locally on your device and is visible only to you — and to anyone you choose to show your screen to.

2.Data we collect: None

BlurPane does not collect any of your data. Specifically:

We do not collect personal information.
We do not track which sites you visit or what you blur.
We do not use analytics, telemetry, cookies, or fingerprinting.
We make no network requests. BlurPane has no server and no backend.
There is no account and no login.

3.Data stored on your device

BlurPane uses your browser's local storage to remember your preferences (blur intensity and style) and your saved blur rules and profiles (which regions to blur on which sites). This information is stored only on your computer, never leaves it, and is not accessible to us or anyone else. It records only where to blur — never the content of the pages you visit.

4.Permissions

BlurPane requests the minimum permissions needed to function:

Access to the page you're on — so it can apply blur where you ask it to, and so it can capture the visible page as an image when you click "Save redacted PNG".
Local storage — to remember your settings, rules, and profiles.
Side panel — to show its control UI.
Downloads — to save the redacted PNG screenshot to your Downloads folder when you ask it to.

These permissions are used solely to provide the blurring and capture features. No browsing data is read for any other purpose, and none is transmitted anywhere. The "Save redacted PNG" image is generated locally and handed straight to your browser's download — it is never uploaded.

5.Changes to this policy

Future optional features (for example, cloud sync of your saved rules) would store only your settings — never page content — and any such feature will be clearly described here before it ships, and will be strictly optional.
