BlurPane
The local-first privacy blur & redaction extension, by Digit Grove.
chrome.storage.local).BlurPane is a browser extension that lets you blur, pixelate, or black out sensitive content on any web page — so you can screen-share, present, or record without exposing client data, financial figures, or personal information. BlurPane is developed and published by Digit Grove ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what data BlurPane does — and does not — handle.
All blurring, pixelating, redaction, and any scanning for sensitive information happens locally, inside your browser, on your device. BlurPane does not send the content of the pages you visit or blur to us or to anyone else. The free version of BlurPane makes no network requests at all.
To remember your preferences — and, in Pro, your saved blur rules and profiles — BlurPane stores data using your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local). This may include:
This data stays on your device and under your control. You can clear it at any time by deleting the saved rules/profiles inside the extension, or by uninstalling BlurPane. We do not receive a copy of it — unless you explicitly enable optional cloud sync (see section 8).
BlurPane does not:
Specifically, BlurPane does not collect personally identifiable information, health information, financial or payment information, authentication information, personal communications, your location, your web history, or website content.
BlurPane asks only for the permissions it needs to work. Each is used solely to provide the blurring features on your device — never to collect data:
Not every permission is present in every version — BlurPane requests each permission only as the corresponding feature is introduced.
Some Pro features can automatically detect and blur personal information — such as email addresses, phone numbers, card numbers, and financial figures — using on-device pattern matching (regular expressions). This detection runs entirely in your browser, in real time, against the page you're viewing. The matched text is used only to place a blur over it; it is not stored or transmitted by us.
BlurPane's core features are free. If you choose to purchase BlurPane Pro, the checkout and license verification are handled by ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com), which uses Stripe as its payment processor. When you buy Pro:
Payments are governed by the privacy policies of ExtensionPay and Stripe. We receive only the licensing status needed to unlock Pro features, which is cached so it keeps working offline.
BlurPane may offer an optional cloud-sync feature so your blur rules and profiles can follow you across devices. This is strictly opt-in. If and when you choose to create a BlurPane account and turn on sync:
If you never enable cloud sync, BlurPane stores nothing about you off your device.
Your blur data lives on your own device, under your browser's protection. For optional paid and sync features, we rely on reputable providers (ExtensionPay, Stripe, and our cloud backend) that use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. No method of storage or transmission is ever 100% secure, but BlurPane's local-first design means there is very little of your data anywhere other than your own device.
BlurPane's use of information obtained through the extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. BlurPane does not collect or use your data for any purpose other than providing the blurring features you request, and does not transfer your data to third parties except as needed to process a Pro purchase or, with your explicit consent, to provide optional cloud sync.
BlurPane is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If we change how BlurPane handles data, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be posted here before they take effect.
